The real stuff…

As for me…

1. October is here, which means so is Halloween, pumpkin patches, and the classic fall fashion layers. I’m obsessed with all things fall. And yes, you guessed it, pumpkin spice latte included.

It’s been such beautiful weather where I am recently, it’s kind of hard to believe it’s already October. There’s no normal Autumn chill that I’m used to. One of these next weekends, my roommate and I are going to go to a pumpkin patch so our room can be a little more decorative… and pumpkin patches are just cute. If we find a corn maze I’ll let you guys know how that goes.

Image result for the uses of enchantment2. I’m taking a communications class as one of my electives that’s all about Princesses and their societal effect. We’ve mostly been talking about the negative effects (low self-esteem, need to be perfect and find a man, etc.) they have in class, but I was taking to my mom on the phone about the class and she told me about a book she read before I was born about princesses.

It’s called The Uses of Enchantment by Bruno Bettelheim. It’s is a book all the positive psychological-forming role fairy tales and princesses have on children. She shipped it to me (yay for Amazon prime) and I’ve been reading it now and then when I have free time… Let me be the one to tell you, if you’re interested in this kind of stuff at all, I would highly recommend this book.

3. The art at the Josyln art museum (which is free to all public, by the way) is beautiful. I go to Creighton University in Omaha, NE and as some of my fellow college students will attest to, you can definitely feel trapped on campus sometimes. Luckily for me, we have a beautiful art museum about a block away. This has become my new favorite study spot. If you guys have a museum by you, maybe consider going there for a while. At least for me, it really helps being surrounded by creativity and beauty to get me through memorizing polyatomic ions for chemistry class.
